Striving for Successful Coexistence with Wildlife

As we continue to evolve in our effort to reach more readers, we are excited to debut our web version of Wildlife Tails. We hope you find this format easy to navigate, and as fun and enjoyable to read as it was for us to put it together!

Each issue of the newsletter will feature articles on native Texas wildlife and the impact that you and I can have on coexisting with and preserving this precious natural resource. Most of us can appreciate the beauty of wildlife when observed from a distance, but when humans and wildlife come in too close contact, many are at a loss as to what to do or how to act. This is due, in large part, from lack of knowledge or understanding.

We hope that Wildlife Tails will help bridge this gap by exploring topics which are both interesting and educational.

Just a sampling of some of these topics include:

  • The natural history of Texas wildlife species.
  • Wildlife "fun facts" which may surprise you.
  • Tips on what to do if you encounter an injured or orphaned animal.
  • Special interest focus on individuals who have had an impact on wildlife in our community.
  • Highlights of our very own DFW Wildlife Coalition hotline volunteers and their wildlife stories!
  • General wildlife information and "news you can use."

So read and enjoy! Don't miss this issue's feature articles on opossums, plus learn some interesting facts about bats and zoonotic diseases!
